BE NOMINATED TO THE BOARD OF NERBNA

The Nominating Committee seeks candidates for the 2016 NERBNA elections. In 2016, the membership will elect a President, Recording Secretary, 3 RN Board Members and a Student Representative and 3 Nominating Committee Members.

All members are encouraged to give utmost attention to this Nominating Committee call and are asked to have serious deliberations about qualified and "proven-to-the-task persons" that have strong vision, leadership, people and communication skills.

The goal of the Nominating Committee is to present to the NERBNA membership a strong and complete slate.

TERMS OF NOMINATIONS:

President: Two-year term
Recoding Secretary: Two-year term
Board Member ( 3 ): Two-year term
Student Representative: (1) One-year term
Nominating Committee : ( 3 ) Two year term

ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS CRITERIA

For all Candidates: Demonstrated evidence of having implemented the philosophy, goals and objectives of the New England Regional Black Nurses Association on a local or regional level. Except for the Student Representative, all candidates must have attended at least two (2) NERBNA conferences in the past five (5) years.

Qualification Criteria: It is not realistic to think that every candidate will meet all of the criteria listed below. The nominating committee believes it is important for the candidates to understand the scope of responsibilities associated with the position and determine in their best judgment that they could fulfill such duties in a responsible and professional manner.

President
Hold a valid license to practice or is retired.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Has a minimum of five (5) years experience in nursing.
Has full command of the English language.
Has previous organizational leadership experience.
Is a member.
Has served on a committee.
Has demonstrated evidence of participation in community activities (school, church, civic, etc.).
Has other nursing organization experience.
Has flexibility in work enabling him/her to attend Board meetings.
Has served in previous leadership positions.
Has previous Board experience.
Has served in the capacity of president of NERBNA or other nursing organization (preferred, not required).
Has management/administrative experience.
Has previously served on the board of NERBNA.
Has worked on several NERBNA committees.
Has demonstrated ability to speak to local and regional issues concerning the health care industry, health regulation and policy; health care delivery, health care professionals and consumers.

Recording Secretary
Hold a valid license to practice or is retired.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Has a minimum of three (3) years experience in nursing.
Has full command of the English language.
Has served in the secretarial role of another organization (preferred not required).
Is a member
Has served on a chapter committee.
Has demonstrated evidence of participation in community activities (school, church, civic, etc.).

Has nursing and/or organizational experience.
Has flexibility in work enabling him/her to attend Board meetings.
Has ability to send correspondence and minutes out in timely manner.
Has previous Board experience.

Board Member at Large ( 3)
Hold a valid license to practice or is retired.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Has a minimum of one (1) year experience in nursing (clinical, teaching, and administrative).
Has full command of the English language.
Is a member
Has served on a chapter committee.
Has demonstrated evidence of participation in community activities (school, church, civic, etc.).

Student Representative
Is an unlicensed student, enrolled in an accredited RN or LPN Program.
Able to remain in office for one year, before graduating.
Has served on boards of directors locally or within student organizations.
Is a member
Has full command of the English language.
Has demonstrated evidence of participation in community activities.
Has a minimum "B" average.

Nominating Committee Member ( 3 )
Has served as a board member, or member of a nominating committee on a local level
Holds a valid license to practice or is retired.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Has a minimum of one (1) year experience in nursing.
Has full command of the English language
Is a member
Has demonstrated evidence of participation in community activities (school, church, civic, etc.)
Attended at least two (2) NERBNA conferences in the last four years
Has served on a Nominating Committee of another organization
