Position Description

Acts on behalf of the Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, and hospital administrators in dealing with Nursing and operational issues by facilitating communication and problem-solving and by providing guidance, direction, education, and support to the nursing employees while observing, assessing and evaluation the quality of care provided for patients.

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

  • A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Three (3) years of progressive Nursing experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing
  • Previous supervisory experience in a hospital setting


License/Certification

Minimum Required:

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License
  • CPR within 3 months of hire

Preferred:

  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty (Nursing Administration)
  • ACLS certification

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in primarily in a mobile manner, with greater than 70% of working hours spent rounding to patient care units and in direct contact with numerous employees, visitors, patients and physicians. Areas are air conditioned and heated.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
  • Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.

HIPAA Roles-Based Access to Patient Information

  • All – Access to patient information, including restricted information – Level 4
